Decorating an Empty Home

Moving into a new home is a great and exciting opportunity for some interior decorating. There will be empty rooms and a head full of ideas. However, it isn’t in anybody’s best interests to rush into any decorating. For the best looking home, it is important to come up with a good plan of action. Here are a couple of tips on decorating a new home.

Before any decorating happens, it is imperative to clean up the house. This means that it is a good idea to repaint walls, fix any problems with cabinets, and anything else you feel is important to fix up. This ensures that your house is looking nice an tidy when everything is being moved in.

The next step is to take another tour of the house and list any ideas you would have for each room. Take a close and careful look. Make the list for each room general to more specific. For example, you look at a room and lets say you want it to be a bedroom. Then, consider if you want to paint the room a different color. Then, think about the placement of the furniture. After that, you can consider what kind of furniture you would want to get. After that, think of any other unique design ideas you’ve come up with along the way. It is important to note that a house where all the rooms have a similar look can make it look boring. If each room has its own unique quality, it could help make the overall scheme of the house more exciting.

After you figure out your plans for each room, see what the priority of each room is. Do you feel it is important to work on the bedrooms first, or the living room? These are the questions you should ask yourself before starting to decorate the house. A new house will not be decorated overnight. It takes time, as well as money, to have a well decorated home.

Once all these steps have been taken, you can finally start decorating your home. As previously mentioned, a new house won’t be decorated overnight. Be patient in your efforts for a decorated home. Remember, keep all your efforts consistent and strive to be innovative and original. Like the old saying goes, “there’s no place like home”. Your home is a reflection of your character and experiences. Be sure to also look for any additional tips on the web. A good place for inspiration is the website Pintrest. Best of luck on your decorating efforts in your new home

Home Workshop for the DIYer – Reclaimed, Repurposed and Upcycled Materials

You can utilize a portion of your garage, a shed, or even an extra room for your home workshop! The basic home workshop for DIY projects, no matter the size, includes good lighting and a well-built and organized work bench (counter top or table). Your work bench should be at the proper height for you and for the way you prefer to work (standing or sitting). Even better is a work bench that is height adjustable as your needs change and even adjustable and comfortable work stools to give you more flexibility.

It is important that you keep your comfort in mind as you will most likely spend quite a lot of time working on those DIY projects that you enjoy so much!

If woodworking is included in your DIY projects, a quality dust collecting system will be an essential part of your equipment. It is OK to economize on some of your tools as there is such a large range of sizes and prices to choose from. But, don’t skimp when it comes to arranging your actual work space, seating, lighting, etc. as those are all important to your health, well-being, and comfort as you work!

Once your home workshop is ready for action, it is a good idea to keep an inventory list of your most used items in order to keep your supplies replenished. There nothing more aggravating than getting half way through a project and realizing that you have to stop to make a trip to your local hardware store! You will gradually collect the tools you need as you expand your horizons with new DIY projects.

Currently a very popular trend in the DIY world is referred to as reclaiming, repurposing, or upcycling. This trend will help keep our landfills from filling up so quickly. Rubbish, cast-offs from others, and garage sale items can easily become stylish, creative, unique, and functional works of art! Think of the possibilities… an old barn door could become a very interesting table top with your imagination and a little bit of elbow grease, and old log and the base of an old chair could easily become a very unusual and cute coffee or side table. Old metal milk crates could be put together to create a really eye-catching coffee table, or old buttons could be used to make some fashionable jewelry.

With the help of the internet and sites such as Pinterest, DIYinspire, even your local public library, and especially your imagination the possibilities are endless for DIY projects! Think of all the things you could create for home decorating, storage, garden art, and landscaping needs!

Pinterest – The Beautiful Social Media

Pinterest is the newest big Social Media phenomenon after Facebook and Twitter. Although the beta version of Pinterest was launched in March 2010 which operated on an invitation-only basis, it eventually opened to everyone only in August 2012. The interest in Pinterest has been so great that it has become the fastest website in history to break through the 10 million unique visitor mark which was reported in January 2012.

When you visit the Pinterest website, what strikes you straightaway is the imagery. It is just full of beautiful images which you could not imagine existed. There are pictures posted of everything but mainly of places, clothing, food, babies and cute animals. But it is not just limited to these. The current statistics from Pinterest states the most popular pins to be in the order of Food and Drinks, DIY and Crafts, Home Decor, Women’s Fashion, Hair and Beauty and other categories. In short, Pinterest has been taken to heart by the female population. Some estimates suggest the proportion of female users to range anything between 72-96% of total Pintrest users.

So how is Pinterest similar to or different from Facebook and Twitter you may ask. Imagine Pinterest to be at one extreme of image-to-text scale and Twitter at the other while Facebook is somewhere in the middle. In Pinterest there are features just like in Facebook and Twitter that make them social such as the ability to follow, like, share and comment on other users material, which in the case of Pinterest are only the images. The more powerful the image, the more interest you will provoke in visitors to your profile which in turn will result in your profile attracting more followers. As In other social media platforms, followers can be converted to customers.

So, if you have never been on Pinterest, this is how it works. Everything on Pinterest is organised around images. You can pin your images on pinboards which you can create around whatever category you choose. For instance you can create a board on your hobbies, events, businesses, travel, fashions, foods etc. You can even repin other users images you to one of your own boards.

If an image is liked enough, there is a great opportunity for it to go viral. Just imagine the effect that would have on your website in terms of the traffic it would attract if one or more of your images linked to your website went viral!

However, one of the major disadvantages of Pinterest must be finding attractive images to post regularly. Unlike Twitter and Facebook where you can conduct your social interaction with words, you cannot do this on Pinterest without first posting an image. To, overcome this issue, you can post images from third party sites such as Google and Flickr. You must always post images that are relevant to your pinboard and you must adhere to the copyright of the image you pin.

Just as in other social media, if you show interest in someone by following or liking, they are most likely to return the favour. And if those you follow are interested in your niche and they followed you back then you have accomplished what people in internet marketing strive to do, which is to get targeted traffic.

Images are very powerful and emotive objects to humans and therefore a great potential exists to monetize them. The easiest way is to attach affiliate links to the images. Unfortunately from internet marketers’ point of view, this practice is frowned upon by Pinterest who have been known to alter the affiliate links to their own advantage. This practice by Pinterest could potentially land them in deep legal waters.

Unlike words which are plenty and readily available, images are restrictive but more importantly they are subject to copyright laws. Certain websites have opted out of having their images pinned on Pinterest by deploying a special meta tag that was released by Pinterest. This puts further limitations on finding attractive and unique images that are readily available.

All social media are evolving entities, including Pinterest. Perhaps it will adapt and evolve into something different in the future. However for now, it presents an enormous opportunity for internet marketer to do business on Pinterest.

Pinterest, as part of the overall internet marketing strategy could make a significant contribution to your online business. It is yet another viable source to make money online.

Pinterest is a social bookmarking tool that allows people to share visual content. One of the main reasons that it’s so popular and has skyrocketed to the top of the rankings is that it is very, very easy to use. It’s VERY simple to use.

People share pictures and videos on Pinterest. Things that interest them, things they know their friends will enjoy. People share what inspires them! Sharing on Pinterest is called “re-pin”, and you definitely want your Pins to be re-pinned.

Four topics that are re-pinned often are quotes, recipes, cute pet pictures and home decor. Where possible you want to create pins for your business that will be appropriate for the top categories. Example quote that was re-pinned 52,000 + times was…

“Because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you will all they have.”

A “mega closet” picture was re-pinned 25,000 + times.

For business it is a blockbuster, simply because you can enhance your brand with pictures on Pinterest. When you post pictures on Pinterest you link them back to your website, a blog post or even a sales page.

Pinterest is much easier for companies who have products that you can take pictures of but there is always ways to take pictures of what’s happening in your business. Whole Foods is an excellent example of how to use Pinterest to build your brand.

“Who Wants Dinner?”,
“Eat Your Veggies”,
“How does your garden grow?”,
“Cheese is the Bee’s Knees”,
“Edible Celebrations”

and many more. They are creative and have made their whole Pinterest page fun!

The Rise Of Home Decorations

Home decorations are a big part of the furniture industry. Since I started working in the furniture business in 2007 I’ve seen a big rise in online sales. It took me some investigating in the very beginning, but now it is becoming very apparent as to why decor furniture is on the rise and bigger than ever.

A friend of mine one day was ranting about a makeover show on TV talking about rustic home decor and listening to hear I could hear her wanting to change her living room simply because of the ideas the show gave. I watched a show one day and I don’t know if it was because the room on that show looked like mine, but I also started to feel like making the same little impulsive purchase my friend was having. I later purchased a vintage home decor piece for my kitchen wall, very similar I saw to one on a show that revolved around old homes.

I notice a lot of commercials from big websites also joining in the market share promoting the styled products seen on the show being played. All this was just on one channel. I understand companies creating shows for the viewers and keeping them entertained, but when you’re constantly being bombarded with advertisements on a show, then you have the commercials, I can see what home goods are on the rise.

2 Of My Favorite Sites For Searching For Unique Home Decor.

ETSY – I’ve seen sites like also on the rise! Sites like these are perfect for anyone who is interested in creating or purchasing products categorized under DIY home decor. Sites like this have also helped in creating more unique products to sell for interested in purchasing unique dining room, living room or bedrooms and kitchen decor.

PINTEREST – If you’re online right now and looking for decorating ideas and have yet to go to, please go and sign up! This site makes it very easy for the interior decorators to find great ideas while furnishing homes for their clients.

In conclusion there are lots of websites and TV shows that are helping furniture businesses grow in a fast rate. It starts to become more evident especially when you hear those close to you mentioning this topic. TV shows are always being replaced for others, but advertisements for home decor will always be there
